Voter turnout in the Coachella Valley was the highest and lowest level throughout Riverside County during the June 7 primary, according to the certified election results that were released Tuesday night. Indian Wells took the top spot among cities — nearly two out of three registered voters there cast a ballot — while Coachella came in last with only about 30 percent of the electorate.
As far as regional races go, the 42nd Assembly District is going to be one of the most expensive, and interesting around, a contest that'll depend largely on which candidates appeal to the most number of independent voters.
State Assembly GOP leader draws two primary opponents
CITY NEWS SERVICE
A Democrat who was previously on an area congressman’s staff and Calimesa Mayor Jeff Hewitt are challenging Assemblyman Chad Mayes in the 42nd Assembly District in Tuesday’s primary.
Mayes, R-Yucca Valley, was elected to the Assembly in 2014 and just 10 months later, his fellow Assembly Republicans chose him to head the caucus, replacing Assemblywoman Kristin Olsen.
Rodriguez good for schools
Chad Mayes has taken votes against fundamental, common-sense safety measures for our students and educators. Mayes unbelievably voted against the bill requiring immunization of all students and then compounded the insult by voting against prohibiting concealed firearms on school grounds. REALLY?
